WISHING TO TRAVEL TO MY BEST FRIEND
WHO HAS LOST HER HUSBAND
Mary is my oldest and dearest friend, and she is also my son’s godmother. She woke up this morning and found that her husband had died in his sleep. There were no warnings and no signs that anything was wrong. Now Mary is alone in Parump, Nevada, trying to face this sudden loss by herself.
I live in Tampa and I am on SSDI with a fixed income, so the cost of getting there quickly is more than I can manage on my own. I want to travel to Nevada as soon as possible so I can be with her, help her through these first heartbreaking days, and make sure she is not alone while she is trying to process what has happened.
Mary has been there for me through the biggest moments of my life. She was with me when my son was born, right there in the delivery room. We traveled out to her wedding, and my son Thomas was her ring bearer. We have always shown up for each other. The last time I saw her, I had driven to Vegas helping a friend move, and she just happened to be there at University Hospital with heart problems. In 2014, when I had a heart attack, she came to me. That is the kind of friendship we have, and now it is my turn to go to her.
The funds from this fundraiser will mainly go toward airfare for my urgent trip, and possibly a rental car if needed. A friend has already offered to drive me from the airport to Mary, so the biggest need is simply getting there as fast as possible.
If you are able to help, any donation or share would mean so much to me. Your support will help me be by Mary’s side during one of the most painful moments of her life.
