We lost my brother Jonathan “JJ” Collander on June 5th after his battle with depression and gambling addiction. He leaves behind his wife Janice and 14-year-old son Arthur, who are now trying to navigate this devastating loss.
JJ was a loving husband, devoted father to Arthur, and someone who cared deeply for everyone around him. His addiction doesn’t define who he was – he was kind, compassionate, and always the first to help others through their struggles.
I’m creating this fundraiser on Janice’s behalf because she’s facing immediate financial challenges while trying to grieve and care for Arthur. Anyone who knows Janice knows she’s incredibly independent and would never normally ask for help, but these circumstances are anything but normal.
Right now, Janice is dealing with outstanding debts, bills, utilities, loans, and other financial obligations that need immediate attention over the next couple of months while she gets her footing. She’s trying to process this devastating loss while managing all these practical concerns, and she shouldn’t have to do it alone.
The outpouring of love and support shown to their family has been incredible. If you’re able to help financially during this transition period, it would mean the world to Janice and Arthur.
