We are the proud family of Shirley Ann Welsh. Born June 25, 1938, in Prairie Du Chien, Iowa. Shirley is better known to everyone as Grandma Ann, the dancing, smiling ball of energy that can turn anyone’s bad day into the best day! Hands down! With just one of her amazing dance moves and a hug, all your blue skies are blown away.
Unfortunately, we lost those magical hugs on March 20th, 2025, at 7:40 pm. Grandma Ann peacefully passed at home with the support of hospice, her daughters Izetta and Nora, and Izetta’s amazing children and grandchildren by her side. Though aware of Shirley’s dementia and the stages she had started to go through, the day came much sooner than anticipated.
The burden of losing a mother is more than enough pain on its own; however, Izetta is now put in the position to take all the burden for any financial responsibility as her other siblings are not able to help. I know many of us have lost loved ones to dementia, and you know all too well the toll it takes on a family even before the loss occurs. To please help, we’re asking for donations for the cremation, visitation, and celebration of life, along with the time off that will need to be taken and work missed. We appreciate anyone who is considering donating and want to say thank you to those that help.
Izetta also has a Cashapp you can donate to with no charge to send. That Cashapp account name is $IzettaMcalister or Venmo account to her daughter Ashley @ashley_caster, which will then be put into Izetta’s account.
There will be a visitation April 5, 2025. In Nashua, Iowa. At 10 Amherst Blvd, Nashua, IA 50658. From 12:00-3:00pm.
