It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved and cherished Grandmother, Great-Grandmother (Nana), Great-Great-Grandmother (Nana), Loved One, and Friend, Maxine Montgomery, who was called home the morning of 11 May 2025, Mother’s Day, in Douglasville, GA.
She always cared about and for others, was thoughtful, giving, had a great laugh, told great true stories, fought hard and long, and truly loved us all. Trust me, if you ever met her, you would remember lol. She was a true friend, and anyone could call her at any time of day or night to just talk. She especially loved my Gbabies something fierce and talked about them to any and everyone who would listen lol. And now she can tell my Mother (her daughter) and Great-Grandmother (her mother) all about them. The three awesome women who raised my brother and I are now together again.
Her passing has left a void in our lives and pain we are still trying to process. It’s especially painful since we’ll be laying her to rest around the time we lost and laid our Mother/Grandmother to rest 15 years ago. The cost of transport to her final resting place back home in New Jersey and funeral expenses are placing a financial burden on our family during this incredibly difficult time. We are reaching out to our community, friends, and compassionate individuals for help so we can give our Grandmother/Nana the respectful and loving home going that she deserves.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to being able to lay her to rest and celebrate her life with the dignity and peace that she earned during her life. If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this campaign with others.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, your kindness, and your prayers.
With love and gratitude,
Maxine E. Liggs (granddaughter) and Family
