We are raising funds for our cousin, Anteneh Girma Zeleke. Even though I am organizing this fundraiser, this was an idea all of us cousins came together on because our hearts are broken by his sudden and tragic passing last week while in custody. Anteneh was a devoted father to five children and a deeply loved member of our family and community. In the months leading up to this, his family, church leaders, and friends stood beside him and fought for his dignity and freedom. We were so close to seeing his situation resolved when the unthinkable happened. Now, as we grieve this painful loss, we are doing everything we can to honor his final wish to return home to Ethiopia.
This fundraiser will help cover all the costs of bringing Anteneh home, including transportation, funeral home and preparation expenses, international airline transport, consular clearances, permits, and funeral expenses. It will also help provide immediate support for his five children as they face this heartbreaking loss. We are asking for your help during this incredibly difficult time.
