Support Cindy’s Memorial and Funeral Costs

Main fundraiser photo
For those of you reading this that do not know me, my name is Alex. I am an only child to two of the most amazing people in my life, my parents, Cindy and Robi. It saddens me to a degree that words simply cannot begin to describe, that on Monday, June 9th, my incredible mother lost her battle fighting a series of autoimmune diseases and other serious physical injuries. Due to these health issues, she had been put through an indescribable form of torture for many years prior. Something no one, in any circumstance, should ever have to face, and especially not a person as loving and caring as my mom. Those unfortunate to have never met my mom, she truly was an amazing person. She was a charge nurse in labor and delivery, leading a team of RNs bringing new life into this world. In addition to her profession at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, IL, she also went out of her way in helping those grieving the loss of their children and newborns by running the hospital’s Parent Bereavement Program. Many of you from the area would remember the tragic accident involving a bus full of children that was struck by a train in Cary in the 90s. My mom helped run that bereavement program and supported the parents of those lost in that accident. This was something that, no matter how difficult it may have been, she took great pride in. She also helped people we knew on a personal level deliver their children as well. Needless to say, she was loved by anyone who knew her. She had a gift of bringing a sense of light and love to anyone she was in the presence of. Not only was she an incredible person, but she was also an incredible mother. People often say that no one loves you like your own mother, and that couldn’t be a more accurate statement. She had a way of always making me feel like I was her world. She always put me in front of anything in her life, even down to her worst days fighting for her life. That is something that can never be replaced and I will forever cherish.

Which brings me to the present…

I am not one to ever ask for help, and those who know me can attest to this. That being said, due to the fact that my mom unfortunately did not have any sort of life insurance policy because of her health conditions, my father and I are asking for ANY sort of assistance in providing funds for her funeral arrangements, which is around $4500. I am unfortunately in a tough financial position as I am our only source of income at this time. As her condition deteriorated, my father suffered a series of strokes that have also left him disabled and unable to work. During this time, I have been financially supporting our family. At this point, there is a remaining $48k in medical bills that will have to be paid through the liquidation of her assets. As much as it kills me to see the only thing she left be sold to pay off others, it has to be done. If the amount that we can generate exceeds the funeral costs, the remainder will be applied to financing our travel expenses down to her home, so that we can hopefully save some of her possessions that are still at her home. Her home is 9 hours away and the trip will undoubtedly take some financial expenses that we simply do not have at this time. Again, I HATE asking for help, as this was something that we have always strived to provide others, especially in times of need. I am not expecting anything from anyone, and completely understand that we all have financial issues. All I ask of you is to show your support by passing this along and sharing this message with others.

I wish you all could have met my mom. She was without a doubt the most positively impactful person in my life. More than just my mom, she was my best friend and the love of my father’s life. She will be missed in an incomprehensible way by the very people that her life has impacted.

I cannot begin to thank those of you who show your support by taking the time to read this. It truly means the world to my father and me.

Thank you
