My name is Sara. I work at the Alvarado Exxon, and my good friend Gary Slay passed away this week. All of our customers know Gary. He was a fixture around our store, and everyone loved having Gary around. He was a truly wonderful man who would do anything for the ones he loved.
A few months ago, Gary had taken a fall and broke a few bones. He was doing physical therapy and starting to get around on his own but had another serious fall and hurt his leg. Even still, the past few weeks he was coming to visit with us at the Exxon, and just having him around brightened everyone’s day.
Wednesday, we could not get ahold of him and had emergency responders go to his home where they found him passed away. We are asking for prayers for his family and all the employees at the Alvarado Exxon at this time. If you have it in your heart to help out or even just send a kind word to us, that would be wonderful. Thank you to all our friends in this time of grief. Our little work family has lost a beautiful soul. Gary’s service will be Saturday or Sunday June 14th or 15th 2025 in Beekman Louisiana. I will update once we know the full details.
