It is with a heavy heart that I am even having to type this. My family has suffered the devastating loss of my father, Terry Lee Turner.
Anyone who has ever had the opportunity to meet this man will tell you that he is such an amazing person, husband, father, friend, uncle, and grandfather. He has given his entire life to his family and loved ones around him. Growing up, I never saw this man work so hard. He worked multiple jobs, often leaving before anyone was awake and returning after everyone had been asleep. He helped raise not only his children but his grandchildren. He would give the shirt off his back to help a complete stranger, and unfortunately, he was called home.
My mother has been paying on a life insurance policy for several years now. We were just informed at the funeral home that the insurance company had declined his policy and cost of cremation, and that the policy my mother had been paying on was only an accidental death policy.
My father became extremely ill roughly 5 years ago. His health rapidly declined, and he was riddled with crippling pain, diseases, and other health issues. We fought and pleaded with numerous doctors from three different states to help him. Every referral was turned down, countless ambulance rides to the hospital only to be told there’s nothing they can do for him and to be sent home within a mere two hours. My father was disabled, and my mother, who is also disabled, poured every ounce of herself into caring for them and their home. He was declared terminal two years ago, and last week on Wednesday morning, he requested to undergo hospice at home. By Friday morning, he was unresponsive, gasping for air, and unable to stay awake. Sadly, my father passed peacefully on Saturday morning around 9:45 am. Due to it being a weekend, we were unable to get ahold of anyone or take care of any business matters. It’s now Monday, we were able to go to the meeting with the funeral home to set up all of the details, and we were informed that the insurance had declined the claim costs.
I have never made a fundraiser, I’ve never asked for money, nor has my family. This loss has completely devastated us, leaving us hopeless and lost while trying to navigate the financial burden that was brought onto us after the insurance declined the cremation fees.
Please, please, I’m begging anyone who can help, please help us. This man deserved so much more than life ever gave to him. Every child should have a father as great as we did. Every woman should have a loving, supportive, and protective husband like he was to my mother.
We are all at a loss, and this is extremely difficult for us. If you can’t donate, please, I’m asking you to share this. My mother deserves to grieve without being sick, worried, stressed, and hurting over not being able to lay her husband to rest.
