Phyllis Vivian Ernest Winans, age 92, passed away Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Arizona. Phyllis was born December 1st, 1932, in Lohrville, Iowa, to Lloyd and Ruth Ernest, one of 13 children. She married Dean Winans on May 19th, 1961, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They moved to Page, AZ, in September 1972, where they lived until 2000. Phyllis loved the Lord and was baptized on October 7th, 2001, in Reno, Nevada.
In 2003, she moved to Morristown, Arizona, where she lived on her own and was a property manager until her death.
Phyllis loved music and spending time with her family. She spent a lot of time knitting and crocheting with her sister Shirley. They made hats, scarves, and lap blankets as their project they called “A Permanent Hug” and gave them away to various care facilities and the needy. She loved and spoiled the outdoor cat, Fluffy, and made sure the birds and squirrels were never without food. She was fiercely independent with a heart of gold. She is preceded in death by her husband Dean in 2003. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Jones of Willow Beach, Arizona, and granddaughter Adrienne Kitchen of Tucson, Arizona. A host of nieces and nephews and a lot of friends will miss her dearly.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 28th, 2025, at 5 PM at Golden Desert Casitas, 44004 West Grand Avenue, Morristown, AZ 85342.
All family members and friends are welcome to attend.
