Our hearts are broken. On Saturday, August 29, 2026, Verónico, Odysseus’s father, was tragically struck and killed by a vehicle near NAPA Auto Parts on Burnside Avenue (LA-44) in Gonzales, Louisiana. Verónico was a devoted father, son, brother, grandfather, nephew, uncle, and friend who was deeply cherished by everyone who knew him. Verónico had a big heart, a warm smile, and a family that loved him beyond words. Verónico was always moved to help others, whether he knew them or not, and that kindness left a lasting impact on so many people. This sudden loss has left our family grieving an unimaginable tragedy while also trying to navigate the painful and unexpected responsibilities that come with laying a loved one to rest.
As our family mourns, we are also facing unexpected funeral and memorial expenses, along with the need for legal and investigative resources as we seek truth, accountability, and justice for what happened that day.
