Hello everyone,
I’m writing this with the heaviest heart On August 21, 2026, we lost my beautiful grandmother Maria Martinez after her long, hard battle with stage 4 lung cancer, COPD, and emphysema. She fought for over 8 years, and even though we knew she was getting tired and that her time was getting closer, nothing could have ever prepared us for actually having to say goodbye.
My grandma was so much more than just our grandma. She was our mom, our aunt, our sister, our best friend, and the heart of our entire family. She was the person we could always count on, the person who was always there no matter what, and the person who made everything feel a little better just by being there.
If you knew my grandma, you knew how loving, sweet, caring, and kind she was. She had a heart that was so full of love. She welcomed everyone with open arms and never made anyone feel unwanted or like they didn’t belong. She loved her family more than anything.
Watching her fight for so many years was one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to go through. We watched her go through so much, and as much as we wanted her to keep fighting, we knew how tired she had become. Seeing someone you love so deeply become too tired to keep fighting is a pain I don’t think any of us will ever be able to explain.
There are no words for how much we miss her already. Everything feels so different without her here. It hurts knowing we won’t get to hear her voice, hug her, talk to her, or make more memories with her. We would give anything just to have one more day with her.
We’re asking for help with her funeral and memorial expenses so we can give her the beautiful goodbye she deserves. If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, our family would be beyond grateful. If you aren’t able to donate, please consider sharing this. Even a share, a prayer, or simply keeping our family in your thoughts means more to us than you know.
Thank you to everyone who has checked on us, prayed for my grandma, loved her, and supported our family throughout these past few years. We truly appreciate every message and prayer.
My grandma may no longer be here with us, but the love she gave us will stay with us forever. She will always be a part of our family, and we will carry her with us in everything we do.
We love you so much, Grandma. We miss you more than words could ever explain. Until we meet again.
