Jennifer is raising this fundraiser in memory of Gertrude M. “Trudi” Alagero, a beloved friend to many at Saugus High, Providence College and Marsh McLennon whose warmth, generosity, and enthusiasm for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Trudi grew up on Chestnut Street in Saugus, graduated from Saugus High School in 1982, and went on to attend Providence College. She later built a successful career in New York City and, at just 37, had become a senior vice president and practice leader for Marsh Private Client Services. On September 11, 2001, while working on the 94th floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center, Trudi’s life was tragically taken. Yet those who loved Trudi remember far more than that heartbreaking day. They remember her beautiful smile, her kindness, her loyalty, her determination, and her gift for making people feel welcome and valued.
This fundraiser will honor Trudi’s life and preserve her connection to the Saugus community through two lasting tributes. Funds raised will help support the existing Trudi Alagero Memorial Scholarship at Saugus High School, helping deserving students pursue their education. The funds will also help create a memorial bench in Saugus, where Trudi grew up and graduated from high school. The bench will offer a peaceful place for reflection and remembrance, while helping future generations learn Trudi’s name and remember the life she lived. Funds will be used for the purchase, inscription, installation, and continued care of the bench, with remaining proceeds directed to the scholarship.
