On May 27, 2025, Dante Wyatt passed away in his mother’s arms. Dante was just 2 years old when he succumbed to heart failure. In his short but full life, Dante endured 2 open-heart surgeries, 2 heart catheterizations, brain surgery, and ear tube surgery.
Dante was born on May 12, 2023. His mom, Christie Wyatt, knew he had a difficult road ahead as Dante was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS), heterotaxy, interrupted IVC, and hydrocephalus. Christie stated that Dante demonstrated strength in moments she wanted to break. Dante was her hero.
In many ways, despite his health challenges, Dante was a typical toddler. He loved Danny Go, Mickey Mouse, Bluey, SpongeBob, Yo Gabba Gabba, Barney, and Paw Patrol. Dante also loved being outside, climbing, playing in water, dancing, and learning to ride his bike with no fear. He loved his bottle that he affectionately called his “bong,” which would sometimes garner looks from strangers when out in public. Dante loved spending time with Christie, his sisters, Alysha, Kerys, Shannon, and Olivia, his Oma and Opa, and niece, Bobby.
Christie loved every moment with Dante; he was her cuddle bug and always attached to her hip. Her favorite time with Dante was spent with him snuggling up with her at night while she read a book or watched TV. She loved kissing his forehead down to his nose, and she misses his kisses, hugs, and Dante calling for her.
Christie is now planning Dante’s funeral. In addition to that expense, it has also been difficult to make ends meet as a single mother since she has not been able to work over the last two years due to caring for Dante full-time. With her permission, I have set up this fundraiser to ask for help for Christie so that she can get Dante transported from Houston back to San Antonio and give Dante the memorial he deserves, as well as so she can pay past due rent, keep current with her utilities, and pay for expenses like gas and household necessities.
Thank you so much for your consideration. Please keep Christie and the family in your prayers as they prepare to lay Dante to rest. As funeral arrangements are made, we will update this page.
