On October 20th, 2024, Carles was found unresponsive at home and transported to St. Luke’s, after she had a stroke. Through long days of therapy, she was able to go home on November 11th, 2024. On the 12th of March, Carles had a procedure done, and there were complications with the procedure. Carles was taken on the 14th of March to Mercy Hospital after having a seizure. Mercy Hospital transferred her to the University of Iowa, where she has stayed. Unfortunately, the seizures caused too much brain damage for her to be able to wake up. As her children, we have made the tough decision to let her go and let her be with her husband, sister, parents, and her beloved niece.
Carles unfortunately did not have any life insurance, and we are having to take care of this on our own. None of us have a lot and want to give her everything she deserved in life, and that is the absolute most beautiful service she could have.
To know our mom was to love her. She truly was the best person. She only ever did the best she knew how, and we all know how much all of this is heartbreaking to her.
We are asking for help to cover any unexpected expenses. We know that everything is hard in this time, and we’d appreciate any help and thoughts anyone can give.
