Steve Nelson was a very unique individual. His greatest goal he set for his life was to get married and create a loving home for his family. Nothing more. Unfortunately, this amazing man was taken unexpectedly from his family by stage 4 cancer within just a few weeks.
Steve is survived by his loving wife Charlotte and his 7 children: Adia (28), his twins Israel and Ariel (22), Stephen (19), Judah (17), Shiloh (12), and Baptiste (9).
For years, Steve was a steadfast provider and loved passionately. He held a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Rockhurst University and used his knowledge to help children with special needs and mental health issues for over 20 years in the KC area, including work at the juvenile correction facility in Jackson County, Swope Parkway Mental Health, as well as Wyandotte Center, which is a mental health facility in KCK.
Many of his clients still reached out to Steve as adults, as they had created a relationship that impacted them so much they wanted to continue to have it, which he happily obliged. He always saw his “work children” as an extension of his family.
In his off time, Steve LOVED to spend time with his children. All of his children shared a talent in art, and they loved to be creative together, as well as enjoy nature walks, family outings, and some anime TV. He was a very intelligent man who taught his kids how to succeed in this life as well as what is truly important.
In this difficult time, please help this family take one worry off their plate and donate to their fundraiser. All donations will be given to his wife, Charlotte, to take care of funeral expenses, assist with medical bills incurred, as well as help their family with other needs during this difficult time. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
