Hi, my name is Kate Dawson, and I’m reaching out during one of the most painful moments of my life. Just two days ago, I lost my grandmother, Barbara Dawson, the woman who raised me, loved me fiercely, and stood by me through everything.
Barbara wasn’t just my grandmother—she was everything. She stepped in to raise me after I lost both of my parents at a young age. Since then, she has been my entire world: my guardian, my teacher, my friend, my family.
Now, I find myself facing something I never thought I’d have to do alone—planning her memorial and funeral.
Barbara passed away without any savings or life insurance, and with no other family to turn to, this responsibility has fallen entirely on me. At just 22, I’m doing my best to honor her legacy with the respect and dignity she deserves. But I can’t do it by myself.
That’s why I’ve started this campaign—to raise $12,000 to cover the costs of her funeral, cremation, memorial service, and travel arrangements for the few relatives and close friends who are trying to come say goodbye.
