Firstly, we would like to express our gratitude to all of our friends/family for their support and encouragement.
The accident happened so fast that we are not certain what happened, but we were run off the road by what we think was a white SUV. Approximately five minutes after the cops and ambulance arrived, they received another call with a 12 car pile up.
During the crash, we crossed over the guardrail, hit the end of the guard rail head-on, snapped four posts from it and flipped over onto the truck’s roof ending up upside down. If it wasn’t for the little truck that we were in, we wouldn’t be alive today.
I had multiple fractures in the C6 and C7 vertebrae, which were treated with screws and a spacer. Even though I am in a lot of pain right now, I am extremely grateful for my Tyler, as I couldn’t do this without him.
Because I experienced nerve damage and numbness on my right arm from my fingertips to my elbow, my first thought was that I had broken my arm. However, after a while, I realized that it was because of the fractured vertebrae.
Since we have never experienced such love and support in our entire lives, we are literally crying tears of joy and gratitude.
Sadly, I found out today that VA might not cover hospital bills since it was a trauma. They refused to take us to Mission, and if I had been taken to Mission, all my hospitals would’ve been covered. We still need to file the insurance claim, but until then Tyler needs to take time off from work to help me recover. We would be extremely grateful for any help you can provide right now.
The following pictures show what happened to the truck and my injury.
