My beloved brother, David Iwata, passed away Monday, May 12, 2025, after suffering a major stroke while driving and was involved in a mild auto accident.
David was profoundly dedicated to the aquatic community at Mt. San Antonio College, where he worked for over 20 years. He built strong relationships, mentored countless students, and was deeply passionate about swimming, lifeguarding, and coaching. Mt. SAC was not just his workplace—it was a beloved part of his life and identity.
In the wake of David’s passing, our family is facing significant expenses. We are raising funds to help cover the costs of his cremation, burial, and other expenses and bills. Just days after David’s accident, our father had a bad fall and suffered a broken hip and femur and now requires immediate care. We are in the process of moving him into assisted living accommodations by June 6, 2025, which adds to our urgent financial needs.
Your support will help us honor David’s memory, provide him with a respectful farewell, and ensure our father receives the care he needs during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference for our family. Thank you for keeping David and our family in your thoughts.
If able to, please join us for a celebration of David’s life on June 28, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Heritage Hall, specifically the Ruh Family Education Center, at Mt. San Antonio College.
Free parking will be available in parking lot F with a quick walk over the bridge to building 744 Hertiage Hall.
