Help Chelle Walton with Medical Expenses After the Loss of Her Husband
We, as concerned and caring friends, are reaching out to ask for support for Chelle Walton, who has recently suffered the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Rob. Diagnosed in 2019 with Parkinson’s Disease and shortly after with a diagnosis of Bladder Cancer, Rob passed away after years of fighting to live and repeated episodes of falling and emergency transport and assistance. In his final days he was suffering from pneumonia, severe pressure wounds, and heart attacks caused by the significant toll on his body and health from the cancer and Parkinson’s.
In addition to mourning the loss of her husband, Chelle is still recovering from the financial strain caused by the devastation of Hurricane Ian, which destroyed their home and forced them to rebuild, and subsequent flooding destruction from Hurricane Milton. Rob’s ongoing medical care compounded these already overwhelming financial challenges. Despite having medical insurance, the Walton family is facing medical bills amounting to many thousands of dollars, and more expenses are expected from Rob’s final weeks in the hospital.
Chelle, a dedicated member of the Sanibel Island community, is one of the many working families, focused on making it a better place to live and visit. Rob ran a landscaping business, while Chelle worked in journalism, contributing to organizations such as the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society supporting the important work at the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. She has been involved in the community also as a library board member, Sanibel School volunteer, city Historical Preservation Committee, Sanibel Cares, and other charitable causes.
Now, after years of contributing to the community, it’s our turn to help Chelle. Your donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward easing the financial burden of her medical expenses and allowing her to focus on grieving and healing with her family, rather than worrying about bills.
Please consider donating to Chelle’s fundraiser page. Let’s come together to support her during this incredibly difficult time and show appreciation for everything she and Rob have done for Sanibel Island.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Our goal is $10,000.
