My name is Brandon, and I am starting this fundraiser for my 16-year-old son, Taylor, and for myself as we try to navigate an unimaginable loss. Taylor’s stepbrother, Eli, passed away during football practice at just 16 years old. Taylor and Eli were more than stepbrothers, they were best friends. Since losing Eli, Taylor has been carrying a heartbreak that no kid should ever have to face. As his dad, I am trying to do whatever I can to help him through this, even though I honestly do not know what else to do except be there for him and listen to what is on his heart.
Taylor asked if we could take a trip to Alaska, just the two of us, for a hunting trip to remember Eli. Hunting in Alaska was something Eli always wanted to do, and this trip would give Taylor a chance to honor his memory in a place that feels meaningful to both of us. I am an avid outdoorsman and a true Texan, and I know time in the outdoors can bring peace, reflection, and a chance to begin healing. The funds from this fundraiser will help cover travel and trip expenses so I can give Taylor this opportunity to remember his best friend and start processing this loss.
