The Costa Family are the people who come to mind when I think about “the village.” Ami and Jamisson show up, not only for their friends and family, but for the community as a whole. If Ami wasn’t writing a grant for a nonprofit she was on the phone advocating for children. If Jamisson wasn’t working at the YMCA teaching fitness and nutrition to the community, he was bringing someone food or helping a neighbor. Somehow they found time to become foster parents and start advocating for their children too, eventually getting blessed with the adoption of two amazing special needs children from foster care. After completing their family with Luca (12), Arya(8) and Max(7) Ami was diagnosed with cancer. She fought hard for two years with her family rallying around her but, devastatingly, she passed on May 24. I would like to ask for help for funeral and other expenses. If possible enough so Jamisson can take the children to meet his family in Brazil, something the family has not been able to afford before but Ami always wanted to do. Please do not give if you are not in a financial situation to do so, Ami would never want that, but if you can I would be eternally grateful.
Thank you,
Mary (Ami’s Found Family)
