Funeral and Memorial Expenses for John Chapman

Main fundraiser photo
On March 26, 2025, the world experienced a genuine tragedy in the sudden passing of my father-in-law, John Chapman (aka Johnny Longhair, Chubby). John passed doing what he loved: working, and doing so side-by-side with his pride and joy in life: his son, Dylan, and his life long buddy, Mike.

Unfortunately, there was an accident on the job and John was the only one who didn’t make it out. Knowing John, I am absolutely certain this is because he was ensuring everybody else made it out safely before finally worrying about himself. This is the kind of selfless that John was and always had been. He was known for being that selfless by anybody who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was someone who would give his last $20 or the shirt off his back, even to a complete stranger, and expect nothing in return. John showed infinite kindness, compassion, and generosity to many people throughout his life and within his community and now, during this time of need, I am asking for the favor to be returned to him by helping his family with funeral and memorial expenses in any way possible, no matter how big or small.

John was an extraordinary husband to Audrey, father to Dylan, grandfather to three beautiful babies, and a loyal friend and mentor to all and I know that when the world lost him that day, everyone who knew him lost a little piece of their own hearts, as well.

John loved his family passionately and unconditionally and was a fierce protector of those he loved. He was kind, understanding, and didn’t dare judge a soul as he always saw the good in everybody. John made an impact on everyone he knew; an entire community of people, and he was a hero to many. To some, John was a safe place to go to get back on your feet. To others, he was a phone call at 3am because you needed help and knew he would answer. He was a listening ear, a helping hand, an incredibly generous soul. He was a man of his word and oftentimes even went above and beyond his word. He was the epitome of a “ride or die.” He will be so missed.

John may have left our physical world, but his legacy and honor will live on through all of our own hearts and memories. We lost him far too soon but I am comforted in knowing we have all gained a really awesome guardian angel.

Please consider donating to help support Audrey and Dylan Chapman during this incredibly devastating and difficult time as they’ll be facing more than enough challenges within the next coming days and weeks as they try to navigate this world without John’s light. And of course, please share any stories or memories you may have of John with the family. We would love to hear all the ways John has impacted the world.
