John Wayne Ammons was Jacksonville born and raised—a biker at heart who later made his home in Yulee, Florida. Well-known and loved by many, John touched the lives of family, friends, and fellow riders throughout the community.
On August 31, 2026, John was tragically found deceased. He leaves behind three children—two adult children and his 10-year-old son—each now facing the loss of their father. While the grief and loss experienced by each of his children is immeasurable, his youngest son faces the added heartbreak of growing up without his father beside him during so many of the important years and milestones still ahead.
John Wayne’s Last Ride is more than a poker run. It is an opportunity to come together to celebrate John’s life, honor his memory, support the children he leaves behind, and demonstrate the brotherhood and love of a community that knew and cared for him.
