Honoring My Dad — A Life That Deserved More Time and Support
Hi, my name is Kaylee, and it breaks my heart to say that my dad passed away. Losing him has left me completely shattered. He wasn’t just my father — he was my safe space, my biggest supporter, and someone I love with all my heart.
My dad struggled with addiction for much of his life, and while that’s a part of his story, it’s not the whole story. He was so much more than his struggles. He was the kind of person who could light up a room with his smile or make someone laugh even on their darkest day. He was kind, soft-hearted, funny, and he loved deeply.
The world was not always kind to him. He faced a lot of pain and trauma that he carried quietly, and I know in my heart that he never wanted to disappoint anyone. He just didn’t get the help and support he truly needed. Addiction may have shaped parts of his life, but it didn’t define who he was as a person — and it certainly doesn’t define the love I have for him.
I’m starting this fundraiser to help cover the funeral and memorial costs, and to honor my dad the way he deserves. This is the last thing I ever imagined having to do, but I want to give him the goodbye that reflects the love he gave to others — even when he was struggling to love himself.
If you’re able to donate, share, or even just send a message of support, it means more than you’ll ever know. Every little bit helps lift some of the weight off during an incredibly painful time.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my dad. Please remember him not just for the hard parts of his life, but for the good in him — the love, the laughter, the light he brought into the world.
With love and gratitude,
Kaylee
